Welcome to the virtual tour of on-farm conservation. In this tour we take you through the villages in Ramnagara district, Kanakapura Taluk, Maralavadi Hobli, where on-farm conservation of the fast-disappearing inter- and intraspecies diversity of finger millet, dryland rice and some wetland rice is vested with farmers in different villages. During the rainy season, women conserve vegetable diversity in their kitchen gardens. |

We take you to the north Karnataka region to a different agroclimatic condition with black cotton soil covering nine districts: Bijapur, Bagalkot, Bellary, Gadag, Dharwad, Belgaum, Koppa, Haveri and Raichur. The rich diversity of sorghum, wheat, pulses, oilseeds and vegetables are conserved by 22 farming groups and individual farmers. |
