The Village Development Committee (VDC) is a good platform for bringing farmers together to make a shift from chemical farming to organic farming. VDCs have been set up in most villages in the project area to implement sustainable agricultural practices. The activities at the village level have been routed through the VDCs.

A VDC is a group of like-minded farmers living in the same village who come together on a common platform to implement agriculture-related activities. They also practice credit and thrift. Each VDC consists of 20 members (both male and female) irrespective of their land ownership, caste and class. Each VDC has three representatives who lead and mange the group's activities, including a bank account for the group's financial transactions.

Weekly or fortnightly, all members congregate in a designated place and conduct their meetings. The attendance is healthy and each member contributes a minimum of Rs. 20/- to a maximum of Rs. 50/- as savings. The account books are scrutinized by the members with the help of foundation staff. At present 42 VDCs are functioning in the project area.
