Our Trustees

Dr. H. Sudharshan 

Dr. Sudharshan is the founder and director of Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra, working with the Soliga tribes for the past 25 years in B.R. Hills, Chamarajanagar district. He is also a steering committee member of Karnataka Lokayukta and has been honoured with the Right Livelihood Award and Devaraj Urs Award by the government of Karnataka.


Prof. A.R. Vasavi 
Professor Vasavi is an anthropologist and senior faculty member at the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bangalore.


Dr. Vanaja Ramaprasad  
Dr. Ramprasad is the founder and director of GREEN Foundation.


Mr. Doraiswamy Ashok  
Mr. Ashok is chief executive of Gossamer Solutions, a management consultancy firm, and is also a faculty member in quantitative methods and information systems at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

Dr. Vanaja Ramprasad,
Managing Trustee, GREEN Foundation.

Vanaja Ramprasad started her career in a Community Health programme in 1973. Since then was set on a path of search for viable answers to the problems of poverty and malnutrition. Vanaja Ramprasad has her Ph.D in Human Nutrition and Management of Health, has worked with many grass root level organisations and consulted with donors, facilitating planning, monitoring and evaluating development programmes. Has been actively involved in issues relating to women and population control, rational use of medicines, alternatives health care systems and environment and agricultural practices. In 1992 initiated the bio diversity conservation programme in the backward border district of the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in a modest way.

Vanaja Ramprasad is the founder director of GREEN FOUNDATION.

Today the programme has cut across Karnataka to different eco regions and has innovated the concept of Community seed Banks. The foundation has actively championed the cause of organic farming and protection of indigenous varieties of crops and seeds..

Was one of the lead authors in the IAASTD( International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development) The Assessment process was initiated by the World Bank in open partnership with a multistakeholder group of organizations, including FAO, GEF, UNDP, UNEP, WHO and UNESCO and representatives of governments, civil society, private sector and scientific institutions from around the world.

Is a world board member of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement (IFOAM) based in Bonn, Germany .Dr.Ramprasad has a spiritual leaning and believes in the nature’s order of evolution.

Dr. C.S.P. Patil
Executive Director

Born in an agricultural family of a small village in Gulbarga district of Karnataka State, India . Completed his graduate and post graduate studies in the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore in the year 1972 and 1974, respectively. Obtained a doctorate degree from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi during 1984. Undergone advanced training in Forest Genetics and Tree Improvement at MSU, USA and in Agro forestry at OTIS, Costa Rica. His fields of specialisation are genetics, plant breeding and tree improvement.

He has served for a period of more than two decades in handling teaching and research programmes of forestry and also carried out plant breeding research activities in crops like sorghum, sugarcane, rice, cardamom and chickpea.
 

Mr. Ningappa
Deputy Director Technical

Mr. Ningappa is a post graduate in agriculture with specialization in agronomy. He was a research associate at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad and has expertise as an agricultural specialist in Rural Management, Consultancy at community level and Agricultural Research with community participation. 


Mr. Mahesh K
Finance Officer
Mr. Mahesh is financial custodian of GREEN Foundation. He is our accounts manager, holds a master's degree in commerce, and is efficient and genius in his work. Previously he worked with a leading chartered accounting firm associated only with NGOs, auditing their work. He was deputed to Sri Lanka for tsunami financial assessment for the donors. 


Mr. Shivakumar
Federation Coordinator

Mr. Shivakumar is a law graduate. He is involved in rural development and poverty alleviation, an authority in soil conservation and the watershed program, and a trainer in rural capacity building for the village development committee. 


Ms. Veena Pachapur

Documentation Officer

Ms. Pachapur is a post graduate in agriculture. She is in charge of documenting our research activities and publications. She has an innovative bent of mind and is committed to the cause.


Ms. Ramaa Satish
Design and Documentation

Ms. Satish is a graduate in science. She helps in documentation and design work. A creative person, she is passionate about working for ecological and social causes. 


Ms. Suma D. S.
Documentation

Ms. Suma has a master's degree in botany. She previously worked as an assistant editor with MacMillan India Ltd. She assists with research documentation, reports and publications.


Mr. Shivraj A.K.
Director, Community Organization & Development

A postgraduate in Sociology, has seen the difficulties faced by farmers living in the middle of the forest. He volunteered with MYRADA and got interested in development sector. Now he has more than two decades of experience in development sector especially in community organization, natural resource management, environment sanitation and forestry. He is also specialized in micro-finance and PRA techniques.


Mr. Shivaraj. C. Hunagund

Team Leader – Network North Karnataka

Post graduate in environmental biology, Apiculturist and applying this knowledge in five districts of North Karnataka. He is also responsible to disseminate the GREEN Foundation activities in the network project area.


Dr. Deeksha Sharma

Project Coordinator- Community-based Biodiversity Management Programme

A doctorate in Community Nutrition has more than 8 years of experience in research, advocacy, training, networking and community management on health, nutrition, food security and mother-child survival issues. She considers “Community participation through empowerment” is the only solution for sustainable development.


Ms. Bhavana Halanaik

Field Coordinator- Community-based Biodiversity Management Programme

An Agricultural Economist, hail from a community which is perched between developed and developing status. An ambitious person willing to work for betterment of rural mass. Strongly believes that no country can be unsustainable in its nature. A team member of the program called International Agriculture and Rural Development, from Cornell University, New York (2008-2009) to get exposed to the sustainable practices practiced over in U.S.A and bring it to India.


Mr. Vijaykumar

Team Leader

Mr. Vijaykumar is an agricultural graduate with vast experience in working with watershed programmes. 


Mr. Shashidhara

Administrative Officer

Mr. Shashidhara holds a master's degree and an M. Phil. in economics and a bachelor's degree in education. He is a committed administrator with good interpersonal skills and a passion for working in agro-biodiversity conservation and education. He strongly believes that a country will develop if its education and agriculture develops.
