GREEN Foundation set up an independent farmers' federation that is registered as "Janadhanya" under the Societies Act. Janadhanya is a governing body involved in activities that strengthen seed and food security through agrobiodiversity conservation. The federation consists of farmer representatives from different villages. Janadhanya is intended to provide services of various kinds and does not provide an opportunity for sharing monetary benefits.
A significant portion of the foundation's effort is spent on making Janadhanya self-sustaining through institution-building activities, imparting training, exposure visits and providing mentorship as well as the management skills necessary to run a business enterprise benefiting the marginal sections of society. We focus on creating public awareness of the various benefits of organically produced commodities in order to educate consumers and empower them to make informed choices.
