Together with local organisations in developing countries, Hivos strives for a world in which all citizens—both men and women—have equal access to resources and opportunities for development.

Hivos is a Dutch nongovernmental organisation guided by humanist values. Its core values include human dignity and self determination, an aversion to dogmas and totalitarian regimes, and a sense of mutual solidarity. Agriterra
http://www.agriterra.org

A key focus in the work that Agriterra carries out is the cooperation from farmer to farmer. We know that every organisation has accumulated experiences that can be useful to others. That is the reason why Agriterra mobilises the knowledge that Dutch agricultural organisations have, for the benefit of organisations in developing countries. We act as a mediator in the creation of various forms of cooperation amongst organisations in developing countries, and between these organisations and colleague organisations in the Netherlands.

Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka

The Government of Karnataka established an organic-farming policy in 2004 to promote organic agriculture in the state. High-level empowered committees have been constituted to implement the policy. As a first step towards promotion of organic farming, an organic village/site programme was initiated in 2004 under which model organic farming sites, one in each district, are being developed. This unique approach is the first of its kind in India. Nongovernmental organizations are implementing this project in association with the Department of Agriculture.
